Hungarian company Genevation Aircraft, in partnership with US-based Alaka'i Technologies, unveiled the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell-powered aircraft on Wednesday. The prototype was presented in the attendance of Minister of Innovation and Technology László Palkovics, in Jakabszallas in southern Hungary, which is the home of Genevation Aviation’s production base.
Citing lessons learned from previous endeavours, by sharing know-how in international R&D projects and partnering with international peers on deliveries, CEO Viktor Jakab said that the company has gained and used its expertise to create the futuristic Skai in Hungary with Alaka’i Technologies, who chose Genevation Aircraft as partners for this project.
The vehicle has six horizontal rotors and a range of 300 miles. It was first presented in May in Los Angeles. Alaka’i CEO Steve Hanvey has said that the company foresees producing more than 10,000 vehicles a year and that its price would be close to that of a luxury car. The vehicle could be used for passenger transport, the delivery of emergency medical transport or for cargo delivery, depending on the configurations.
